• The Kanal Orthopaedic Pillow provides a completely new level of support and can take up to 7 days to accommodate to.
• Begin with the lesser support edge and lower height (remove the 1" height adjuster).
• Always begin on your back with your head centered in the pillow for at least 10 minutes. This is the most relaxing position for your neck muscles. We also suggest a soft pillow to slightly bend your knees for optimal full-spine relaxation.
• Once you've spent a minimum of 10 minutes on your back, you can either remain there or turn to your side if preferred.
• When side sleeping, pillow height becomes most concerning. If possible, have your spouse, partner or friend look at you while lying on your side to look at the alignment of your neck relative to the rest of your spine. Back doctors suggest that we sleep level such that our head and neck is not tilting downhill or uphill. If tilting downhill, increase your pillow height with the optional foam insert underneath. If you have wide shoulders, you likely need to do such anyway. Of course your comfort is always a major consideration, so make sure to factor that in.
• If you have shoulder complaints, it is especially important to improve your side sleeping posture, support and pressure relief. The Kanal Pillow takes very special measures to insure your comfort by having the right spot for you shoulder to be positioned, tucked away in the channel hidden underneath the neck support. This is one of the features making our pillow unique.
• Although chiropractors, orthopedists and sleep specialists to not recommend such, some folks like to sleep with their arm beneath their pillow underneath their head. Our channel also provides the perfect spot for placement of the arm should one so desire.
• Although our pillow perhaps better facilitates stomach sleeping than many pillows, stomach sleeping is NOT recommended.
